Glimpses of a day visit to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park & Wildlife Research Center, Katraj, Pune in October 2017.
Located at Katraj a few kms away from the Pune City, on the Pune-Satara road, the park is divided into three sections: the zoo, a lake, and a snake park. It also has a wildlife research centre, working as an animal orphanage, rescue and care centre.
Our visit to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park was filled with simple joys—wandering through leafy paths, pausing at enclosures, and catching quiet moments with wildlife.

Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park has a great collection of animals living in natural ecosystem. Leopards, Lions, blackbucks, elephants, crocodiles, sambhars, barking deer, giant squirrels, white tiger, Bengal Tiger, foxes and wild dogs are among those animal species, along with a descent variety of birds, including peacocks, vultures and eagles.
Moments of wonder—wild eyes, quiet paths, and the joy of meeting nature face to face.

There is a snake park here and it has a large collection of snakes and reptiles. The enclosures display venomous snakes such as vipers, pythons and others including king cobra with information about these snakes.

These images are shared not just as records, but as glimpses of the wonder we felt being close to nature that day.

The zoological park also organizes various animal welfare activities and environmental awareness events. And if you are a wildlife enthusiast, it is a must-visit place for something in vicinity of a city.
