Located on the southern bank of the river Brahmaputra in Morigaon district, the sanctuary lies about 50 km from Guwahati and is easy to reach by road in roughly 1 hour 30 minutes. It is celebrated for its conservation and protection of the Indian One‑horned Rhinoceros.

Pobitora is the land of rhinos. It is renowned for having the highest density of one‑horned rhinoceroses in the world.

Glimpses of the wonderful trip
I, with Bijon and Bhaskar were a group of 3, and were fortunate to have Naruttam Deka as our guide—warmly recommended by Jyotirmoy Saikia da, my engineering college senior. His insights added depth to the experience, making the visit even more memorable.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary – Beyond rhinos
While the rhino is the star attraction, it is also home to reptiles, smaller animals, and a rich variety of birds—including a commendable number of migratory species that add to its natural charm.
